Our Environmental Impact 2025
While the Catering Innovation Show is all about showcasing the latest advancements and innovations in the catering industry, sustainability remains a vital part of who we are and how we operate.
We recognise the impact that large-scale events and the catering sector can have on the environment, and we’re dedicated to doing our part to reduce that footprint. From working with responsible suppliers and reducing single-use materials, to promoting energy-efficient technologies and waste-conscious practices across the show, we’re committed to making better choices wherever we can.
Sustainability influences everything from our event planning to the innovations we highlight — encouraging exhibitors and visitors alike to think greener, act smarter, and embrace change for the better.
It’s an ongoing journey, and we’re proud to support an industry that continues to push toward a more efficient, ethical, and environmentally aware future.

2937 kWh Renewable Electricity Used
The electricity at the Business Design Centre is sourced entirely from 100% renewable resources, and the kitchens now operate solely on energy-efficient induction appliances. While the heating system still uses gas, it cannot currently be measured per area—however, all associated energy use is fully accounted for in a comprehensive carbon offsetting program.
65% Event Waste Recycled
We’re dedicated to responsible waste management through effective recycling practices. Our mixed recycling output was 26 x 1100L bins versus 14 x 1100L general waste bins, giving us a recycling total of 65% in 2025
Surplus Food Donations
The Good Eating Company actively measures and manages food waste to reduce environmental impact. After each event, any surplus food is donated to the venue’s onsite charity partner, ensuring it goes to those in need rather than to waste. Food that cannot be redistributed is carefully recorded and responsibly disposed of. As a certified CarbonNeutral® company, The Good Eating Company is committed to operating sustainably and continuously improving its environmental performance.
On-Site Supply
The Business Design Centre is unique in it’s on-site preferred suppliers for event logistics. The onsite stock of shell schemes, signage producers and electrical equipment teams is designed to accommodate most exhibition builds efficiently and sustainably. The Catering Innovation Show utilised all on-site preferred suppliers to minimise travel miles from off-site.
Carpet Saved
The Business Design Centre is fully carpeted, meaning there’s no need for additional carpet installation—saving both time and resources. The carpet tiles are crafted from recycled fishing nets, helping to reduce ocean waste and promote a circular economy.
630 Miles On Public Transport
Venue staff travel is kept low to minimize environmental impact. This includes project management, electrics, stand-fitting, security, and cleaning teams. The total distance is tracked, with a detailed breakdown by mode of transport available for full transparency.
Our Zero To Landfill Policy
Catering Innovation Show organiser Lockhart Catering Equipment has a 2050 net-zero target including scope 3 emissions, and the Business Design Centre works with carbon consultants at “ecollective” to develop their own venue net-zero emission targets.
